CAPS Hauraki can help you find a counsellor to support you in your recovery through the ACC Integrated System for Sensitive Claims. Read on to find out more and check out the profiles of some of the local therapists available to help you in your healing journey.
In New Zealand the Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC) supports survivors/ victims of sexual abuse through the Integrated Services for Sensitive Claims (ISSC). Counselling, social work, support groups, and transport can be covered, but the first step is to find an ACC registered counsellor to help get you started.
When choosing a counsellor, it is important to try and find someone you feel you can trust enough to work with. We advise that you call a few counsellors and 'interview' them over the phone to find out if you feel ok talking with them. Download the brochure on how to find a counsellor in our region.
ACC will pay for 2 sessions for you to meet face to face to work our if you would like to work together.
Please note that the ISSC system means that support for most survivors/victims of sexual violence is completely free.
In our region, there are a range of experienced sexual abuse counsellors available. For a full list, please contact CAPS Hauraki on 07 868 8644 or reception@capshauraki.co.nz . Read on (and click on a name below) to find out about some of our ACC registered counsellors:
