Keeping kids safer

CAPS Hauraki has practical, hopeful and specialised resources adults can use to raise healthy kids and prevent child abuse

We believe that every parent and caregiver, grandparent and family/whānau member wants to be the best they can possibly be when given the awesome responsibility of the care of a child or young person. We all have to take responsibility to guide, protect and teach our children, but sometimes that can prove very stressful.
CAPS has a range of resources and support to help you along your way.
  • School holiday activities - low or no cost whanau activities...
  • Prevent child sexual abuse - CAPS has the tools and strategies to help you build a family safety plan, know how to talk with children about preventing sexual abuse,  much more.  Check out the links below to find about strategies to prevent child sexual abuse with a new partner, babysitting, and when staying away from home...
  • Educate yourself about sexual abuse - find out what sexual abuse is, what to do if a child tells you about sexual abuse and how to identify unsafe behaviour around children. Check out the links on this page...
