Youth Service

The Youth Service supports taiohi/youth to get the education they need for bright, independent futures

What is the Youth Service?

The Youth Service supports taiohi/youth o get the education they need for bright, independent futures.​​ Our Youth Coaches work with the following three groups:
  • Youth Payment, for young people aged 16 or 17 who can’t live with their parents or guardians
  • Young Parent Payment, for young people aged 16-19 who are the main caregiver for a child, and
  • The NEET (Not in Education, Employment and Training) service, for 16 - 17-year-olds who are either not in education, training or employment, or are at risk of dropping out.

What do our Youth Coaches do?

We can help to identify options for employment, education or training that support you to have a successful future.  We can:
  • Help you identify your goals and give you tips on how to achieve them.
  • Help you design an effective CV and coach you to successfully get through an interview.
  • Help you identify an educational path or work based training that aligns with your interests.
  • Help you with driving lessons and gaining your driving license so that you can be independent.
  • Advocate with you or on behalf of you with WINZ, Police, Schools and/or your Employer.

Our youth coaches provide intensive, tailored support to identify your goals and find the best path to reach them. We support you in the ways you most need.​

How do we meet with you?

To meet with us you can either come and see us at one of offices in Thames, Paeroa and Coromandel or we can come out to your home, or a place we agree is comfortable for us.  You can bring a mate or your family to work stuff out if it helps.
 
During working hours we can be contacted via text, telephone and email.  Best of all our Youth Services are FREE.
