Why is attendance at school important?

Attend Today - Achieve Tomorrow!

Picture
School is your child’s first and most important job.

Attending school is more than just about reading, writing and math. It’s about learning valuable life skills, developing good work ethics and becoming a valuable member of society. Education is key in helping your child realise their dreams for the future.

Regular attendance at school greatly improves employment, social and life chances and reduces the development of antisocial behaviour and youth offending.

Section 20 of the Education Act 1989 states that :
Every person is required to be enrolled at a registered school at all times during the period beginning on the person's sixth birthday and ending on the person's 16th birthday.

Getting kids to go to school can be a challenge for many families and sometimes we all need help to work out how to support them to get there.
CAPS has attendance staff, social workers and counsellors who can work with you in a non-judgemental way to help support your child’s education.
